GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.,– Gilda’s LaughFest has announced the return of actor and LaughFest veteran Ron Funches for the eighth annual community-wide festival of laughter. Funches will perform at Vander Mill Grand Rapids on March 9 at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Tickets for these shows will go on sale Friday, Jan. 19 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased at ticketmaster.com (search LaughFest), the Van Andel Arena & DeVos Place Box Offices or by visiting laughfestgr.org.
A seasoned stand up comedian, Funches has performed all over the United States and made several television appearances. He starred in NBC’s “Powerless” and “Undateable,” as well as ABC’s “Black-ish.” Funches was featured in the 2015 Will Farrell/Kevin Hart film, “Get Hard,” and had recurring roles on Comedy Central’s “@midnight” game show, “Kroll Show” comedy series and “Drunk History” television series.
Funches has also had multiple stand-up performances on TBS’s “Conan O’Brien Show” and NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.” The comedian’s voice-over credits include “BoJack Horseman,” “Bob’s Burgers,” “Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh” and the DreamWorks Animation film, “Trolls.”
Previously announced events for the LaughFest 2018 include Trevor Noah, performing during Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids Signature Event, Tiffany Haddish, John Mulaney, Rik Roberts and returning LaughFest veterans Maria Bamford and Cameron Esposito, among other diverse artists including some festival newcomers and other returning favorites.
During the 10-day festival, LaughFest 2018 will include more than 200 free and ticketed shows featuring over 100 artists at more than 40 venues in Grand Rapids, Holland, Lowell and Wayland’s Gun Lake Casino.
Gilda’s LaughFest was created by the team at Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids in 2011. Designed to celebrate laughter for the health of it and raise visibility and funds for Gilda’s Club mission, LaughFest features free and ticketed events including stand-up, improv, film, showcases and a variety of seriously funny stuff.
Past LaughFest headliners have included Howie Mandel, Seth Meyers, George Lopez, Wanda Sykes, Billy Gardell, Iliza, Amy Schumer, Jay Leno, Lily Tomlin, Chris Tucker, Pete Holmes, Sinbad, Margaret Cho, Betty White, Whoopi Goldberg, Mike Epps, Kathleen Madigan, Martin Short, Kevin Nealon, Wayne Brady, Jim Breuer, Joel McHale, Lewis Black and Brian Regan.
