Brian McCarthy, son of the millionaire Marriott hotels president, his payday came much sooner than expected when he won $107 million on the Mega Millions lottery.
The son of hotels boss Robert McCarthy bought his winning ticket on a whim as he was withdrawing money from an ATM in inside a grocery store in Herndon, Virginia.
The regular lottery player was working as an account manager for Pepsi and had just moved back in with his parents when he won.
Mr McCarthy has bought a BMW M3 and plans to go on a golf trip to Ireland. He has also donated $50,000 to two local charities.
Mega Millions lottery is held in 41 U.S. states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In March 2011 on a ticket bought in Albany, New York, fell a recordlottery jackpot of $ 319 million dollars.
